About The Author...Hello and welcome! I'm Christopher Jorge, the author of VideoDrumLessons.com. I started playing drums 25 years ago during my middle school years in Southern California. I then went through four years of High School marching band, playing with friends, garage bands, etc. After moving to Southern Oregon in 1985, I played with several church teams and Gospel outreach bands for the next few years, until... Around 1998 I started teaching private lessons to just one student. Over the next five years I taught anywhere from three to eight students on a regular basis, ranging in age from six years old to adults. Also that year I started playing with some folks that I had played with years before. What developed soon after was a seven piece Gospel blues / funk / rock band now known as Soul Fixins. We play regularly around the Southern Oregon - Northern California region with our own brand of original tunes. We are also currently working on our first CD. When teaching students, so often I will get asked the same questions over and over. I love to teach, so I thought it would be beneficial to take those questions and concepts and make them into Video Lessons that many folks could use and enjoy! My vision for VideoDrumLessons.com is to provide quality complete song lessons, exercises, tips, and valuable resources for the beginning and intermediate drummer. Although I can read and teach basic beginning drum set sheet music, I have made a conscious choice here at VideoDrumLessons.com to teach by example for the play-by-ear drummer. No reading experience is necessary. Regarding music styles, you may say, "I want to learn blues drumming", or rock, metal, jazz, swing, etc. Even if Gospel blues / funk / rock is not the style you want to learn, that's ok. Taking apart a tune in almost any style creates a great learning experience that translates to many other styles of music. In future lessons I will attempt to be as diverse as possible, introducing many different stylistic and dynamic grooves. I always appreciate feedback, so please feel free to email me any time at author@VideoDrumLessons.com with any questions, comments, or suggestions. Many blessings and success in your gifts.
